Hey Alex, I Just Heard About Serial for the First Time From Your Podcast
Okay, I know this post is really late. The StartUp podcast I'm responding to is from December 22 (see episode #10 here: http://feeds.hearstartup.com/hearstartup). However, I think that makes it even more relevant.
I own a startup marketing and PR agency in Savannah, GA and I heard of the Serial Podcast. I don't remember where I first heard about the StartUp Podcast. Might have been from Jason Keath, who works upstairs from me. I remember discovering StartUp twice, once in the unknown way I just described, and the second was on the Rainmaker podcast.
The first time I listened to the StartUp Podcast, I remember hearing the clip where you and Matt (?) I think are talking about how when people get in their cars, they are going to always go to "American Podcasting Company" and you guys will be to audio consumption what Kleenex is to facial tissue (my metaphor, like it?). Anyway, I thought it was lame, and had no interested in going further.
When I heard it a second time on Rainmaker, I thought, okay, I"m going to check these folks out, and I started with episode 1. Loved it, got hooked, listened to 4 episodes last Sunday alone, and am now up to episode 10.
Incidentally, I am probably not the average listener, or podcast consumer, but then again maybe I am.
Even though I work in marketing and have had an agency for about four years, I had dismissed podcasts as old news until a friend told me about a Jewish podcast from the Orthodox Union (the Shnayim Mikrah Podcast ). That got me open to podcasts again. Still it was Jason Keath and his Social Toolkit podcast and Rainmaker that brought me to StartUp, with no connection to Serial in between..
