It's the experience of your mind trying to protect itself and you from getting deeper into trouble. It feels bad and it is tempting to use all of your energy to make that feeling go away. Don't. Sit with it instead. Express it verbally and try to identify any of the possible things that are triggering your mind to do this. Let's talk about specifically how to do this.
It may seem bizarre or science-fiction-ish, but AI tools like ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini can be incredible helpful in these situations. If you're feeling self-conscious about talking to an AI, you can choose a setting called "temporary". This means that anything you write to the AI will not be remembered.
